M&K Picking Stations are bespoke constructions designed to enable the manual separation of recyclables within an enclosed and controlled environment, by operators working at a conveyor line that passes through.
Picking Stations are typically elevated on a platform and positioned above a number of bays. One bay for each of the waste materials to be picked from the mixed waste, such as cardboard, plastic film, wood textiles, rigid plastics etc.
Operators remove targeted materials from the picking belt and drop into appropriate bays via a series of chutes positioned adjacent to the belt. M&K Picking Stations are custom designed to take into account the throughput of the plant, the type of materials, the number of operators and the space available. They have well lit work stations with access doors and stairways.

Manual sorting or picking involves operatives removing selected items of recyclable waste from a conveyor picking belt and placing it into a storage bay/bin. Sorting can take place in an open air environment or in enclosed picking station.
