Required Criteria:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar), or significant relevant industry experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a heavy engineering design role.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D modelling (AutoCAD / SolidWorks).
- Strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
- Logical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Flexibility to travel as required.
- Full driving licence.
Desired Criteria:
- Experience using a PDM system
- Electrical system design experience.
- Understanding of hydraulic systems.

JOB SUMMARY
The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the design and development of innovative engineering solutions. This position requires a strong background in mechanical design, system design, and a thorough understanding of various engineering principles and involves managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting customer deadlines. The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for leading projects from conception to completion, ensuring that all designs meet quality standards and client specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Develop initial concept drawings and models for customer proposals.
- Progress concept designs into fully detailed engineering designs incorporating mechanical and electrical systems.
- Produce precise manufacturing drawings.
- Modify existing designs to meet bespoke customer requirements.
- Manage customer communication and technical queries throughout each project.
- Liaise closely with the manufacturing team to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Maintain accurate technical specifications and user documentation.
- Complete and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Oversee engineering deliverables in line with project schedules.
- Travel to customer sites to supervise and complete installations and commissioning.
- Support the Aftersales team in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices
